Turning Commitment into Opportunity
The Building Futures Skilled Trades Coalition brings together educators, businesses, workforce organizations, corporate leaders, industry vendors and stakeholders across the construction trades.
The coalition is built on years of investments, measurable results and proven Lowe’s Foundation partnerships to help train and develop one million skilled trades professionals by 2035.
More than 75 organizations are already helping shape the nation's largest cross-sector skilled trades coalition.
A National Opportunity
The skilled trades are one of America's greatest opportunities.
The United States is in the midst of an unprecedented labor shortage as a significant number of workers retire and infrastructure investments grow. More organizations than ever are investing in career pathways, training & education, and advancement.
* U.S. Department of Education (January 2026)
The opportunity isn't simply to fill jobs. It's to strengthen communities, grow our economy and help more people build rewarding careers.
But no single business, educator, workforce organization or funder can meet this challenge alone. Progress requires coordinated action: helping more people prepare for skilled trades careers, connecting effective training and credentialing models to employer demand, and elevating the value of skilled trades work
The coalition brings philanthropic investment, education, workforce partners, businesses and industry leaders together in one coordinated ecosystem. The coalition helps partners learn from one another, reduce duplication and build on proven approaches so that effective solutions can reach more people. Together, the coalition will also measure collective progress to understand what's working, scale proven solutions, and drive measurable workforce outcomes, with the goal of preparing and developing one million skilled trades professionals by 2035.

The Lowe's Foundation isn't new to this work.
Through Gable Grants, deep relationships with Pros, workforce organizations, education providers and industry vendors, we've spent years helping to expand skilled trades pathways, building the nation's largest skilled trades member ecosystems.
Today, we're building upon that foundation by bringing organizations together to move from individual efforts to coordinated action.
We are not simply convening members. We are helping transform workforce development.
